Award winning artists Kris Buck and Gail McBride Kenny have joined together
to share their artistic journeys displayed during the month of July at Gallery Los Olivos.
Pastel and oil artist Kris Buck and watercolor and oil artist Gail McBride Kenny will
be the Featured Artists from July 1st through July 31st.
Kris Buck paints in plein air using both soft pastels and oil. Her artistic journeys have
included trips to Santa Fe, Monterey, Catalina, the desert, and many trips to Europe
where she has painted in the small villages of southern France, the streets and gardens
of Paris, the gardens and boats of Lake Como and the canals of Venice. Kris enjoys
plein air painting because it allows her to be in wonderful places and to focus on the
moment away from all the requirements of everyday life. She explains, “I
try to emphasize mood, light and the beauty around me.”
Gail McBride Kenny paints in watercolor and oil. She enjoys painting more closely
focused subjects including birds, flowers, and people. Gail
has also painted locally and abroad in villages in France, Italy and Greece.
Gail says, “Painting for me is a way of sharing the beauty and emotion I feel in the
world around me. It’s a way of preserving a moment in time experienced or imagined.
I often choose subjects from the natural world because of their uniqueness and transitory life.
As I look back at paintings of the past, they share a piece of history, and immortalize a
moment in time that may have passed from the world. My wish is to capture and save
the fleeting moments that I have experienced and share them with others that can feel my passion.”
